Hōjiro

Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.138, colour photo, p.247, description: Light red single, with 6-7 petals, the colour fading in the centre. Leaves elliptic, tapering, blunt acute apex, margins obscurely crenate. Selected from wild japonicas in Sagami District, Kantō area. The different reading of the character, “Hōhaku” is reserved for the Star Nursery cultivar above. Resembles Juraku. Different reading: ‘Hohojiro’.
