Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.238 with colour photo; English translation p.167. Small, darkish deep red, trumpet shaped single, cylindrical stamen column. Flowers mid-season to late. Leaves oblong, small, waved. Upright, fast growing. This camellia is used as a hedge in Hōnen’in Temple in Kyoto. Named and released by Shūji Noguchi around 1970. From Kyoto to Tokyo.
