Aikokai, 1977, Higo Tsubaki: Pink, becoming white as the flower ages, 10 cm across. Regularly spread stamens. See Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.69, color photo, as ‘Higo-haresugata’. Originated in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Latest Illustrated Book of Japanese Camellias, (Camellias of Japan), 2010, p.237 with colour photo; Flowers mid-season to late. Leaves dark green, elliptic. Spreading growth. Recognised by the Higo Camellia Society in 1977.
