Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.385. HAR-22-2., a cross seedling (DHJ-No.2) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiari Hongjuan'. Flowers bright red with waxy luster, fading to light red at the central petals, single form, large to very large size, 12.0-15.0cm across with 6-7 petals, petals broad obovate, flat, big wavy, apices sunken, stamens slightly united at the base, filaments red, bloom dense, flowers fall whole. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, long elliptic, slightly twisted, cuneate at the base, margins nearly smooth. Plant spread and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Red Rate Holding up Gold”.
