Gao & Zhuang, 1989, The Camellia in China, p.49, No.300, colour photo No.173,A,B: Medium size, loose, informal peony type, soft pink, sometimes with red stripes, outer petals waved and fluted, and a centre of small, erect, folded petals, petaloids and stamens. Leaves deep green, elliptic. Originated in Sechuan Province, China.
Huafengwei.( Camellia japonica) Synonym: None Originate: Sichuan Characteristics: Plant medium vigorous, with open crown. Leaves light green, long elliptic, glossy, fiat, with apex apiculate, base obtuse, measured 8 cm to 10 cm across by 4 cm to 5 cm wide, serration shallow and sparse. Flowers are white. Petals, with dark pink stripes, 31 segments, elliptic to rounded, with apex slightly notched. Irregular petaloids by some stamens, imbricated irregularly, with wavy margins. Stamens in 6 groups mixed with petaloids, diameter 8 cm to 10 cm, peony form, medium floral abundance. Flowers February to April, blooming in March. Key points of identification: Petals white with deep red stripes.
