Huarong Yuemao

Huarong Yuemao (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.243. HAR-02-18., a cross seedling (DXFRL-No. 37) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'. Flowers peach red to red, slightly with orange hue and faint veins, semi-double form, medium to large size, 8.0-11.0cm across and 5.2cm deep with 16-18 large petals arranged in 3 rows, petals broad obovate, petal surfaces slightly wrinkled, stamens slightly united at the base, filaments pale red, anthers golden yellow. Leaves dark-green, leathery, narrow elliptic, urgently cuneate at the base, margins shallowly serrate at the upper part. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Beautiful Feature as Flower & Moon”.
