Huilong Chenxi

Huilong Chenxi (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Jili Mudan'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.224. HAR-01-1., a cross seedling (DJLMD-No.9) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Jili Mudan'. Flowers light red to orange red, occasionally with white stripes at the central small petals, as flowers opening, the flower color gradually changes into pale pink, semi-double to peony form, medium to large size, 9.0-12.0cm across and 5.0cm deep with about 20 exterior large petals arranged in 3 rows, petals obovate, central small petals wrinkled, stamens clustered. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, urgently cuneate at the base, margins smooth. Plant compact, dwarf and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-spring to early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Huilong Town’s Morning Light”.

回龙晨曦 Camellia ‘Huilong Chenxi’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第224页。 HAR-01-1.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×杜鹃红山茶F1代新品种‘吉利牡丹’，杂交苗编号：DJLMD-No.9。花朵淡红色至橘红色，中部小花瓣偶有白条纹，随着花朵开放，会渐渐变为淡粉红色，半重瓣型至牡丹型，中型至大型花，花径9.0-12.0cm,花朵厚5.0cm，外部大花瓣20枚左右，呈3轮排列，花瓣倒卵形，中部小花瓣扭曲，雄蕊簇状。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，厚革质，长椭圆形，长9.5-11.5cm，宽3.5-4.0cm，基部急楔形，先端钝尖，边缘光滑。植株紧凑，矮性，生长旺盛。春末至夏初始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
