Hunqing Yuanbao

Hunqing Yuanbao (C. japonica'Jinpan Lizhi' × C. azalea). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations ofthe New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science andTechnology Publishing House, p.89. HA-41-5., a cross seedling (JD-No.3-15) of C.japonica 'Jinpan Lizhi' × C. azalea. Flowers red to deep red, occasionally with small white spots at the central petaloids,anemone form, medium size, 8.5-9.0cm across and 3.5-4.0cm deep with 6 exteriorpetals, petals long obovate, petaloids crowded into a ball at the center.Leaves dark green, leathery, long elliptic, slightly wavy, urgently cuneate atthe base, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Itblooms fully in summer and autumn and sporadically in winter and spring.The cultivar name means “Gold Ingot for Wedding”.
