Overlook Nursery Catalogue, 1939-1940: (Our seedling No.172) Semi­double flower, 10-12.5 cm across with 16-18 petals which are crinkled and resemble crepe paper in texture. Colour, soft pink with darker veins. Blooms abundantly mid-season. Leaves very small, roundish, smooth, shining dark green. Compact grower. Black and white photo, Overlook Catalogue, 1945-1946; Hertrich, 1955, Camellias in the Huntington Gardens, vol.II, p.211. Colour pl, Fendig, 1949, American Camellia Catalogue. Developed from seed imported from Japan by K. Sawada, planted 1925, first flowered 1934. Orthographic errors: ‘Lourie’s Favorite’, ‘Laurie’s Favorite’. Sport: Lurie’s Favorite Variegated.
