Mantang Hecai

Mantang Hecai (C. azalea × C. japonica  'Mary Agnes Patin'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.38. HA-10-8., a cross seedling (DDA-No.7) of C. azalea × C. japonica  'Mary Agnes Patin'. Flowers orange red, slightly with waxy luster, central petaloids with white stripes, loose anemone to peony form, medium to large size, 9.0-12.5cm across and 5.5cm deep, 15-18 large petals arranged in 2-3 rows, petals light color at the upper part, petaloids clustered into a loose globose. Leaves dark green, back surfaces gray-green, heavy leathery, elliptic, margins sparsely and sharply serrate at the upper part. Plant compact, upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Universal Applause”.

满堂喝彩 Camellia ‘Mantang Hecai’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第38页。 HA-10-8.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×红山茶品种‘达婷’，杂交苗编号：DDA-No.7。花朵橘红色，略泛蜡光，中部雄蕊瓣具白条纹，松散的托桂型至牡丹型，中型至大型花，花径9.0-12.5cm,花朵厚5.5cm,大花瓣15-18枚，呈2-3轮排列，上部花色较淡，雄蕊瓣簇拥呈松散的球状，花丝淡红色，花药金黄色。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，厚革质，椭圆形，长9.55-10.5cm,宽4.0-55.5cm，上部边缘具稀疏尖齿。植株紧凑，立性，生长旺盛。夏末始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
