Originated in the Fumei village (Anchi county, Fujian province). It has been cultivated for more than 80 years and mainly distributed in the various tea region of Fujian province. Now it has been popularized to Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hunan, Zhejiang, Hubei province.
Plant medium-size, semi-opened type, more densely branching. Leaves inclined upward. Length 7.4~8.2cm, width 3.0~3.5cm，oblong in shape with acuminate tip, flat with a slightly protuberant surface. Green in color. Thick and brittle in texture, 7~8 pairs of vein with waving margin. Serrations deep and sharp. The sprouting period in spring season generally appears in the last ten days of March. The peak period of one bud and three leaves stage* shoots appears in the middle of April. With vigorous sprouting ability. Shoots stout and light green m color. Hairs profuse and long. The weight of 10〇 one bud and three leaves shoots averaged 69g. The peak period of flowering stage appears in the first ten days of October. With numerous flowers, but the percentage of bearing is relatively low. Rather high cold-hardiness. With high rooting ability and survival rate during the cutting propagation.
High-yielding. In a large area of 2450 mu in the Dabing and Bingzhou of Fuchou village (Anchi county, Fujian province), the annual yield of oolong tea was as high as 221.5kg per mu. According to the analysis conducted by the Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the contents of caffeine in the one bud and two leaves shoots in spring season averaged 4.05%，amino acids 2.95%，tea polyphenols 20.08%， total catechins 158.19mg/g. The Oolong Tea prepared with GSCT6 variety, as the raw material is characterized by its bloom color, fresh aroma and full taste. By using this variety to manufacture the black tea and green tea performs high-quality and elegant appearance with profuse hairs.Suitable to popularize in the tea region in the south-of-Yangzte River for the manufacture of oolong, black and green tea.
