» English Description

Mizuno, Motokatsu, 1681, Kadan Kōmoku: White spot­ted pink. Double. The first character is different from that of the sasanqua so that it refers to the “Moon of the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and the 13th day of the 9th lunar month”. Originated in Japan. (Believed extinct.)

淡交社.1989《日本の椿花》..16. 関西產. [花]白色の一重、抱え~筒咲き、筒しベ、小輪、10~3月。秋の咲きことと、開ききっても玉状のまま残ることが多いので、茶席によく利用される。[葉]小型の楕円形、葉脈顕著、鋸歯粗く、光沢鈍い。[樹]横張り性。[来歴]中部に同名異種がある。   文/横山・写真/神園
