Niannian Youyu

Niannian Youyu (C. azalea × C. japonica 'Kingyo- tsubaki'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.176. HA-74-1., a cross seedling (DHJY-No.1) of C. azalea × C. japonica 'Kingyo- tsubaki'. Flowers red to deep red, occasionally with little white spots, semi-double form, medium size, 7.5-10.0cm across and 4.5cm deep with 20-23 petals arranged in 4 rows, petals broad obovate, thick texture, central petals slightly wrinkled at the surfaces, a few stamens, filaments pale red, anthers yellow, bloom dense, petals fall one by one. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, long elliptic, margins shallowly serrate at the upper part, apices fishtail in shape. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Having Surplus Every Year”.

年年有余 Camellia ‘Niannian Youyu’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第176页。 HA-74-1.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×红山茶品种‘锦鱼叶椿’，杂交苗编号：DHJY-No.1。花朵红色至深红色，偶有少量白点，半重瓣型，中型花，花径7.5-10.0cm，花朵厚4.5cm，花瓣20-23枚，呈4轮排列，花瓣阔倒卵形，厚质，中部花瓣瓣面略皱褶，雄蕊少量，花丝淡红色，花药黄色，开花稠密，花瓣逐片掉落。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，厚革质，长椭圆形，长8.5-9.5cm,宽3.5-4.0cm,上部边缘叶齿浅，先端鱼尾状，基部楔形。植株立性，生长旺盛。夏末始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
