Qiuyue Wenying

Qiuyue Wenying (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.247. HAR-02-22., a cross seedling (DXFRL-No.52) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'. When just opening, the flowers are deep pink to orange red with a globular flower core, and then gradually change into light pink, occasionally with a few of white markings, semi-double form, large size, 11.0-12.5cm across and 5.0cm deep with over 30 large petals arranged in 3-4 rows, occasionally with some petaloids, petals long obovate, stamens nearly free at the base. Leaves dark- green, heavy leathery, long elliptic, urgently cuneate at the base, margins shallowly serrate at the upper part. Plants upright, branches dense and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from later-spring, fully blooms in summer, autumn and winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Orioles Singing from the Autumn Moon”.

秋月闻莺 Camellia ‘Qiuyue Wenying’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第247页。 HAR-02-22.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×杜鹃红山茶F1代新品种‘夏日热浪’，杂交苗编号：DXFRL-No.52。花朵刚开放时深粉红色至橘红色，花芯多为珠球状，而后逐渐变为淡粉红色，偶具白斑，半重瓣型，大型花，花径11.0-12.5cm，花朵厚5.0cm，大花瓣30枚以上，呈3-4轮排列，偶有雄蕊瓣，花瓣长倒卵形，雄蕊基部近离生。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，厚革质，长椭圆形,长11.0-11.5cm，宽3.5-4.0cm,基部急楔形，上部边缘锯齿浅。植株立性，枝叶稠密，生长旺盛。春末始花，夏、秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
