Encyclopedia of Camellias in Colour, vol.I, 1972, pl.59, p.56, description, p.299: Small, campanulate, pale apricot pink single with 5 petals and a short, cylindrical stamen cluster. Flowers mid-season. Leaves glossy mid-green, ovate, abrupt acuminate, wavy, medium sharp serrate, midrib keeled. Originated in Japan in 1966 by Hori, Hideo, Toide-machi, Takaora City, Toyama Prefecture. It was originally named ‘Mine-no-hikari’ but in 1971 the name was changed to Rikyū.
