Rizhao Xiangiu

Rizhao Xiangiu (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangri Fenli'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.353. HAR-15-2., a cross seedling (DXRFL-No.5) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangri Fenli'. Flowers purple pink to purple red, semi-double form, medium to large size, 9.0-12.5cm across and 5.0cm deep with 15-18 petals arranged in 3 rows, petals long obovate, rolled outward, stamens radial. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, urgently cuneate at the base, margins nearly smooth. Plant compact and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Sunshine Censer”.
