Ronggui

Ronggui (C. reticulata  ‘Shanghai Lady’ × C. japonica 'Scentsation'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.513. HC-14-1., a cross seedling (SHNSXS-No.1) of C. reticulata  ‘Shanghai Lady’ × C. japonica 'Scentsation'. Flowers peach red to light red, with light purple hue, fading to white pink at the center, semi-double form, very large size, 15.0-16.5cm across and 4.5cm deep with 18-20 large petals arranged in 3 rows, petals nearly round, thick texture, edges crinkled or wavy, stamens clustered, filaments milk- white, anthers yellow. Leaves green, leathery, long elliptic, surfaces smooth, midribs sunken, lateral veins unconspicuous, margins finely and sharply serrate. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Blooms from late-winter to the spring of following year. The cultivar name means “Gloriously Return to Homeland”.
