Sanxueshi

Huang, Shanghai Nursery Catalogue, 1947: A medium size, formal double, imbricated and tiered to form a star shape. White with pink markings and petals incurved at the apex. Originated in China. Different reading: ‘San-hsioh-shih’.

Sanxueshi. (Camellia japonica） Synonym: None  Originate: Chongqing  Characteristics: plant habit vigorous, and open with slender shoots, with internodes longer and most o f slightly reflexed, small shoots slightly spreading, strong resistant to coldness and sun light. Leaves elliptical, tip apiculate, and base broadly obtuse, margins slightly recurved as turtle shell, 7 cm to 9 cm long by 3.5 cm to 4.5cm wide, upper surface glossy, sparsely serrate. Sepals open. Petals even and rounded, about 70, imbricated. Floral bud numerous occasionally clustered terminally. Flower dark pink to pink with brilliant red streaks, or with early half pink flowers and half red flowers in same plant, measuring 8 cm to 10 cm wide, medium sized, formal double, abundance inflorescence. Blooms, unsimultaneously, late March to late April,with full blooming in late March.  Key points of identification: Color dark pink to pink with deep red blotches or streaks at same plant. Leaf recurved as a turtle shell. Flowers very proferous.sport:Huasilian;Xiaohonglian.

三学士，‘Sanxueshi’（C. japonica），陈丽惠2013年《山茶花谱台湾情》第157页，【花】:淺粉白色或淡桃红色，花瓣間帶有粉红或红色線條斑，或有白覆輪；牡丹花型，中輪約9公分。 【葉】倒卵形、葉基鋭角、葉尖有短尾。春梢及新葉呈红褐色，樹呈優美傘型，生長極佳。臺灣古典茶

周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.152。植株开张，枝较细长，节间较长，多向外平伸，小枝略下垂，植株茂盛，抗寒性强，耐日晒；叶椭圆形，先端短尖，基部宽楔形，叶缘略反卷成龟背状，叶长7cm-9cm,宽3.5cm-4.5cm,叶面光亮，叶齿浅稀；花萼开张，花瓣圆形，平展，平瓣花多轮。约70枚，覆瓦状排列整齐，该品种植株花蕾多，顶端有时呈簇生状，不全开放，同株上具有深粉红色花朵和粉红色镶大红色条块的花朵，以及同一朵花上呈一半红一半粉红的花朵，花径8cm-10cm,中型花，完全重瓣型，花朵稠密，花期较晚，3月-4月下旬，盛花期在3月下旬。识别特征：同株上有深粉红色花和镶有大红色条块的粉红色花朵，叶缘反卷成龟背状，花朵稠密。原始产地：重庆。芽变品种：花丝莲，小红莲。

Sanxueshi 三学士 (Three Scholars)。(C. japonica)红山茶。1949，中国。完全〜六角列瓣、白色底、红条斑、花瓣顶端内卷、中轮(9〜10cm)。别名：白三学士(Baisan Xueshi)。突变种： 粉三学士(Fensan Xueshi)、红三学士(Hongsan Xueshi)。
