Shuanghong Licheng

Shuanghong Licheng (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.240. HAR-02-15., a cross seedling (DXFRL-No.28) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'. Flowers bright red to orange red and gradually changing into deep red, with white markings or white stripes, semi-double to loose peony form, medium to large size, 9.0-12.0cm across and 6.0cm deep with 16-18 large petals arranged loosely in 3 rows, petals obovate, stamens clustered. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, elliptic, cuneate at the base, margins smooth, midrib yellow-green, lateral veins unconspicuous. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Double Red Litchi City”.
