Shuimo Danqing

Shuimo Danqing (C. azalea × C.japonica 'Huangpu Zhilang'). HA-53-3., a cross seedling (DHP-No.10) of C.azalea × C. japonica 'Huangpu Zhilang'. Flowersdeep red to dark red with waxy luster, occasionally with white stripes on thecentral small petals, semi-double to peony form, medium to large size,9.0-11.5cm across and 5.5cm deep with 13-16 exterior large petals arranged in2-3 rows, petals obovate, rolled outward, central small petals erected, wavy, stamensradial, filaments pale red, anthers yellow, bloom dense. Leaves dark green,leathery, broad elliptic, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright, branchesdense and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms fromautumn to winter and sporadically in early-spring. The cultivar namemeans “Chinese Ink Painting”.
