Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.63, colour photo & description: Small size, white, to pale pinkish colour, campanulate single, with 5 emarginate, reflexed, overlapping petals and a central column of stamens with white fila­ments, joined for their lower third, and yellow anthers. Blooms very early to mid-season. Leaves dark green, broad-ovate, apices blunt acute, margins serrulate. Originated in the Chūbu area, Japan. A chance seedling, originated by Harutarō Sakuragi, named and released by Eimei Nagata in 1968.
