Wuye Jinguang

Wuye Jinguang (C. azalea ×  'Longhuozhu'). China authorized variety number: 20240266. Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.150. HA-67-2., a cross seedling (DLHZ-No.2) of C. azalea × 'Longhuozhu' ('Dragon Fireball). Flowers deep red to dark red, with waxy luster, occasionally with some white markings, semi-double to anemone form, occasionally peony form, quite like C. japonica cultivar 'Midnight Magic', medium size, 8.5-10.0cm across and 5.0cm deep, 9-12 exterior large petals arranged in 2 rows, broad obovate, small petals and petaloids twisted, stamens short, filaments red, anthers golden yellow, bloom very dense. Leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, margins obtusely serrate. Plant compact, branches dense and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Midnight Golden Light”.

午夜金光 Camellia ‘Wuye Jinguang’ 。品种权号：20240266。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第150页。 HA-67-2.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×非云南山茶杂交种‘火龙珠’，杂交苗编号：DLHZ-No.2。花朵深红色至黑红色，具蜡光，偶见白色斑块，半重瓣型至托桂型，偶有牡丹型，颇像品种‘午夜魔幻’，中型花，花径8.5-10.0cm，花朵厚5.0cm,外部大花瓣9-12枚，呈2轮排列，阔倒卵形，瓣长4.0cm,中部少量小花瓣扭曲，雄蕊较短，花丝红色，花药金黄色，开花极稠密。叶片浓绿色，革质，椭圆形，长8.5-9.0cm，宽4.0-4.5cm，边缘叶齿钝。植株紧凑，枝叶稠密，生长旺盛。夏初始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
