Xiachu Qiaoyu

Xiachu Qiaoyu (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiayong Guose'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.286. HAR-08-1., a cross seedling (DGS-No.4) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiayong Guose'. Flowers red when just opening and then gradually change into deep pink, occasionally with white markings, fading to pink at the center, rose-double form, medium to large size, 8.5-12.5cm across and 6.0-7.0cm deep with 30-40 petals arranged orderly in 3-4 rows, petals obovate. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, smaller, urgently cuneate at the base, margins nearly smooth. Plant compact, bushy, branches dense, and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Early Summer's Chance Encounter”.

夏初巧遇 Camellia ‘Xiachu Qiaoyu’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第286页。 HAR-08-1.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×杜鹃红山茶F1代新品种‘夏咏国色’，杂交苗编号：DGS-No.4。花朵刚开放时为红色，而后渐渐变为深粉红色，偶有白斑，渐向花芯呈粉红色，玫瑰重瓣型，中型至大型花，花径8.5-12.5cm,花朵厚6.0-7.0cm，外部大花瓣30-40枚，呈3-4轮有序排列，倒卵形，外翻，中部花瓣半直立，先端内扣。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，半直立，稠密，狭长椭圆形，厚革质，较小，长6.5-7.0cm，宽2.2-2.7cm，略波浪状，基部急楔形，边缘几乎全缘。植株紧凑，灌丛状，枝叶稠密，生长旺盛。夏初始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
