Xiangzi

Xiangzi (C. sasanqua hybrid). China Regn. #2019-277. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2019, No.10, p.50. Named by Wang Xiangnan, originated and registered by Wang Xiangnan, Chen Yongzhong, Wang Rui and others from Hunan Academy of Forestry Sciences. A hybrid of 'Kanjirō'× C. vietnamensis. Hybrid in 2010, fruit in 2011, seedlings bloomed for the first time in 2017. Flowers light purple or rose red, fragrant, with dark red veins visible on the petal surface, semi-double, medium to large size, diameter 8.5-11.5cm, petals 10-18, narrow and long obovate, apex deeply concave, stamens nearly seperated, occasionally petaloids, filaments pale yellow, style 3-4 lobed, lower than stamens, anthers yellow, ovary densely hairy. Leaves dark green, bright, elliptic, 7-9cm long, 3-5cm wide, with blunt edges. Plants open and grow vigorously. The flowering period is from late November to February of the following year.

湘紫 Camellia sasanqua ‘Xiangzi’ 中国登录号：2019-277，《中国花卉园艺》2019年第10期50页。由王湘南命名，湖南省林业科学院的王湘南、陈永忠、王瑞等培育并登录。该品种系由茶梅‘立寒’× 越南油茶杂交组合获得。2010年杂交，2011年获得种子并播种，2017年杂交苗首次开花。花朵浅紫红色或玫红色，芳香，瓣面可见深红色脉纹，半重瓣型，中到大型花，花径8.5～11.5cm，瓣10～18枚，狭长倒卵形，先端深凹，雄蕊近离生，偶有瓣化，花丝淡黄色，花柱3～4裂，低于雄蕊，花药黄色，子房密被毛。叶深绿色，光亮，革质，椭圆形，长7～9cm，宽3～5cm，边缘锯齿浅钝。植株较开张，生长较旺盛。花期11月下旬至翌年2月。
