Zuiyangfei

Chen, Shao Yun, 1985, Camellias from Zhejiang, p.55: Small tree, spreading with long branches. Leaves long-elliptic, medium size, yellowish green, distinct venation. Flowers pink, 7-8 cm across with 25-30 petals in 4 rows, narrow, long, notched at apex, separate. Stamens rare with degenerate pistil. Buds short-elliptic, green. Flowers mid-season. Note: This cultivar is different from Zuiyangfei above or Baichang’e Cai. Sometimes the same popular name is given to a number of different cultivar in different camellia growing areas of China. There were more than 5 cultivars named 'Yōkihi' in Japan, and more than 4 cultivars called Zuiyangfei or Yangfei Cha in China, actually there were totaly different cultivars.

Zuiyangfei. (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: Camellia japonica ‘Yangfeicha’,  Originate: Chongqing  Characteristics: Plant habit open, medium at vigor. Leaves elliptical or long-ellipse, apex acute, base broad obtuse to obtuse, measured 6 cm to 7.5 cm long by 3 cm to 4.5 cm wide. Flowers pink, small to medium size. Petals at 4-5 rows, 18-25, flat rounded, apex irregularly notched. Petaloids by most of stamens, small and clustered in centre, normal stamens scattered ingroup, light pink in centre, anemone from medium abundant inflorescence, floral diameter 7 cm to 8 cm. Blooming January to April, at full bloom in middle March.  Key points of identification: Flower pink. Little irregular stamens clustered in floral center

陈绍云等1985《浙江山茶花》p.55。周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.238。管开云等2014《中国茶花图鉴》p.230。植株开张，长势中等偏弱；叶椭圆形或长椭圆形，先端渐尖，叶基部宽楔形或楔形，长6cm-7.5cm，宽3cm-4.5cm;花粉红色，小到中型花，平瓣4轮-5轮，18枚-25枚，花瓣短圆，先端有不规则缺凹，雄蕊瓣化较多，瓣化瓣碎小，集于中心，未瓣化雄蕊分成数束，散生其间，花心部颜色较淡，托桂型，花量中等，花径7cm-8cm，花期2月-4月，盛花期3月中旬。本品种抗性较弱，叶片易受日光灼伤，生长缓慢。识别特征：花粉红色，雄蕊小碎瓣多而集于花心。原始产地：重庆
