Flower: pale yellow to yellow, very small, 1.3-2 cm in diameter with 5-9 petals. Filament in tube with pollen on the mouth of the tube. Leaf: ca. 10 cm long, ca. 4 cm wide, leathery and glossy. Probably the most hairy species in the genus Camellia. The upper surface has short hairs on the main veins, while the lower surface has long white hairs on the main veins and on the entire leaf surface. Petiole is 3 m long and is surrounded by long hairs.Blooming season: September to March next year. Distribution: North-east Mountain in Vietnam.

The plant was discovered by S. Kirino, N. Hakoda and Tran Ninh in 1998 in Van Lang district, Lang Son province. In 1999, the author Tran Ninh published in the Journal Genetics & Applications with the scientific name Camellia kirinoi. The Vietnamese name is Kirino Tea, named after the Japanese scientist S. Kirino who had made many contributions to the research of Vietnam's indigenous camellias.

This species is very similar to Camellia luteocalpandria (2021) in the same Section Calpandria in yellow flower, but differs on Petals outer side pubescent (C. kirinoi) vs. Petals both sides glabrous (C. luteocalpandria).

桐野管蕊茶 (Camellia kirinoi Ninh), 首次发表于Genet. & Applic. 2: 37 (1999)。 桐野秋丰,2013. 《井之口山茶馆-原种山茶图鉴》,93页。【花】淡黄色至黄色,非常小,直径 1.3-2 厘米,花瓣 5-9 片。花丝呈筒状,花粉长在筒口边缘。叶:长约 10 厘米,宽约 4 厘米,革质,有光泽。 可能是山茶属中毛发被最多的种。 上表面主脉上有短毛,下表面主脉和整个叶面上有白色长毛。 叶柄长 3 米,周围长满长毛。花期:9-3月。分布:越南东北部山地。

1998 年 12 月,在越南进行第三次调查期间,桐野秋丰(Shūhō Kirino)和箱田直纪(Naoki Hakoda)博士在越南东北部山区的一个路边发现了它。枝叶上有毛,是当地常见的树木。当地常用作柴火。该物种的名称是为了纪念发现者之一的桐野秋丰(1927-2015)。
