Baiyupian

Gao & Zhuang, 1989, The Camellia in China, p.51, No.323, colour photo No.187: Large size,10-11 cm across, white, formal double, sometimes tiered, with 9-10 rows of rounded petals. Blooms early to mid-season. Originated in China.

Baiyupian. (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: None  Originate: Chongqing  Characteristics: Plant habit open and vigorous, abundantly branching and dense foliage. Leaves elliptical, with apex apiculate, base broadly obtuse; dull yellowish green with less glossy, upper surface rough, veins obvious; measuring 6.5 cm to 7.5cm in length and 2.5 wide to 3.5 wide. Sepals open. Flower formal double, medium to large size, diameter 9 cm to 11 cm wide, flat petal in outer row arranged regularly, petals in inner rows slightly undulated, flat petals 65 imbricated in multiple rows, petal apex notched. Stamens fully petaloids. Flowers purely white, jade yellow in centre at early period, with mass flowers, blooming November to early March, with full blossom mid January to mid February, early blooming variety. Key points of identification: Blooms very early; obviously veined; dry leaf, yellowish green without glossiness, some rough.

周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.22。植株开张，生长旺盛，枝叶茂密；叶椭圆形，先端短尖，基部宽楔形；叶色偏干黄，少光泽，叶面粗糙，叶脉凸出，手感明显,叶长6.5cm~7.5cm,宽2.5cm~3.5nn;花萼开张，完全重瓣形，中到大型花，花径9cm-11cm,外轮花瓣排列整齐，平瓣花多轮，雄蕊完全瓣化，内轮花瓣有些卷曲，花瓣平展，瓣尖有缺凹,约65枚，呈覆瓦状排列整齐，花纯白色，初开时花心基部略带玉黄色，花朵稠密，花期11至次年3月下旬，盛花期1月中旬至2月中旬，早花品种。识别特征：本品种的主要特点是花期极早，叶脉凸出，手感明显，叶片干黄缺少光泽。不耐高温、日晒，适含盆栽和园林应用。原始产地：重庆。
