American Camellia Yearbook, 1958, p.285, Reg. No.337: A 9 year old chance seedling that first flowered 1954; originated by R.S. Mauldin, Alabama, USA. Plant growth is medium, rapid in rate and dense with long pointed leaves, 9-10 cm long by 6.5-7.5 cm wide. The deep pink, formal double flowers are 6.5-7.5 cm across by 4.5-5 cm deep with 95-102 petals, with the outer two rows imbricated, the formation of the very pointed, inner petals is star-like. Flowers mid-season to late.
