Hagiya, 1967, Kyōto Engei Kurabu, Tsubaki Tokushū, No.8, p.14, description, p.15, black and white photo; Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.246: Medium size, 8 cm across, red, open peony form double with large, waved and fluted petals, scattered stamens, anthers dark yellow. Mid-season blooming. Leaves, long oval, acuminate, hirsute petiole and midrib, sharply serrate. Originated in Ugawa Mura, Kariwa Subprefecture, Niigata, Japan. Named and introduced by the Niigata University.
