American Camellia Catalogue, 1970, p.161, Reg. No.1085: A 12 year old chance seedling that first bloomed 1965; originated by G.Stuart Watson, Albany, Georgia, USA. Plant growth is average with rate, medium to slow. Leaves are large, dark green. The rose form double, ‘Mathotiana’ (Julia Drayton) type, bloom is dark pink or light red, 12.5 cm across and 7.5 cm deep. Sometimes opens to show stamens. Blooms mid-season to late.
