American Camellia Yearbook, 1960, p.194, Reg. No.464: An 8 year old chance seedling, originated by Mrs W.J. Beasley, Hartsville, South Carolina, USA, that first bloomed 1954. Plant growth is upright and open with bright green, serrated leaves, 11.5 cm long by 4.5 cm wide. The brilliant red, semi-double flower, 12.5-13.5 cm across by 5.5 cm deep, has 7-8 petals and 3-4 petaloids, with a tight cluster of upright, deep pink stamens. Blooms early to mid-season.
