Coach Mathis  (C. japonica)   This unknown age C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in 2012. It was originated by Clayton Mathis of Douglas, Georgia and registered by Nedra Mathis of Douglas, Georgia and propagated by Jerry Selph of Suwannee, Florida.  BLOOM: The medium to large sized 9.5 cm x 5.1 cm (treated 12.7 cm x 7.6 cm) full peony to anemone form flower is rose pink with spots. It has yellow anthers and white filaments. This bloom is long lasting with heavy petal texture. PLANT: The plant habit is spreading. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses. LEAF: The medium green leaves average 10.2 cm x 5.1 cm with medium serration. BLOOM SEASON: Early to late. Please note that this cultivar was temporary called as Coach Ma in 2012, and was offically published as the present name 'Coach Mathis'.
