Coach Tom Osborne. (C.reticulata hybrid). ACS, The Camellia Journal, Aug. 1997, p.16, Reg.
No.2428. A very large, red, semidouble hybrid (C.reticulata seedling x unknown C.japonica
seedling), which flowers early to midseason. Originated by Albert E. Buchholz, Cupertino,
Calif., USA. American Camellia Yearbook, 1997, p.1, colour photo before p.1. The 15 year
old seedling first flowered in 1990. Average flower size is 14.5-15 cm across x 7 cm deep
with 14 petals, 198 petaloids, yellow anthers and yellow filaments. This is a good seed setter.
Plant growth is upright, open and average with dark green serrated leaves 12-12.7 cm long x
7-7.5 cm wide.
