SCCS.,1950, Camellia Nomenclature, p.44: White, irregularly striped maroon. Very large semi-double. Medium, upright growth. Early to mid-season blooming. Originated at Descanso Gardens, La Canada, California, USA. ACS, Reg. No. 401. American Camellia Yearbook, 1959. p270: Date of application-January 6, 1959. A 7-year-old chance seedling developed by Descanso Gardens, La Canada, California, which first bloomed in 1956. Growth habit is upright, of average density, and medium rapid. The dark green leaves average 4½ inches in length and 2½ inches in width. The semidouble flowers, 5½ inches in diameter and 2½ inches in depth, are white, irregularly striped with maroon, and have 21 petals; the stamens are red and white at the base. It is stated that the flower is fragrant. Flowering season is November through January.
