Dauvesse, 1850, September, Catalogue Nº10 for Automne 1850 to Printemps 1851, p.71-72 in French and translated into English by Armando de Castro Oliveira:“This beautiful cultivar will be offered for sale by subscription, from September 20 to 30, 1850.Description given by Messrs. Drouard-Gouillon and Brunellière, who obtained it from seed. A vigorous shrub with a beautiful habit; leaves 6 to 7 cm wide by 10-11 cm long, elongated oval, apex narrowed, slightly serrated, ordinary green; formal double flower, 9 to 10 cm in diameter, with a cherry-carmine red, tending to pink; petals in 7 to 8 rows, the outer ones oblong, slightly resting on the calyx, joined, some delicately indented, others entire; those that follow them have a medium strength cut, veined, and horizontally placed; those in the center are ovoid, arranged (p.72) in stars, marked almost invisibly by a white line that crosses them vertically; corolla of a perfect imbrication from the center to the exterior row." Please note that the French cultivar 'Evelina'  isn´t the same as the USA cultivar 'Evalina' which name was very similar. Also in van Houtte Catalogue, 1851, 44:9 Orthographic error  as Evlina. No description. Originated in Nantes, France and in Alexis Dalliere, 1852, Price List, p.16 (Believed extinct.)
