Fenghuangting

Fenghuangting (C. amplexicaulis × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.489. HB-34-2., a cross seedling (BLHZ-No.7) of C. amplexicaulis × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'. Flowers soft peach red, occasionally with faint white markings, petaloids with small white markings, as flowers opening, flower color gradually changes into pink, anemone to peony form, small to medium size, 6.5-8.0cm across and 4.5cm deep with 11-13 large petals arranged in 2 rows, petaloids mixed with stamens. Leaves green, heavy leathery, elliptic, midribs and lateral veins raised, cuneate at the base, margins finely and sharply serrate. Plant compact, upright and growth vigorous. Blooms from late-autumn to the late-spring of following year. The cultivar name means “Phoenix Pavilion”.
