Heping Yangguang

Heping Yangguang (C. azalea hybrid). China Regn. #2019-292. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2019, No.20, p.60. Originated by Liu Heping and Lin Jianbo from Yangjiang Vocational and Technical College of Guangdong Province, and registered by Liu Heping. A hybrid by crossing C. azalea as the seed parent and ‘Hongfurong’ as pollen parent. Hybrid seeds were harvested in 2015. Flowers red in the outer petals, pink in the inner petals, semi-double to rose double, medium to very large, diameter 10.0 ~ 13.0cm, more than 40 petals, arranged in multiple whorls. Petals obovate, apex slightly concave, with few stamens occasionally seen in flower center when full opening. Leaves dark green, elliptic or obovate, 7.5-9.5cm long, 3.0-4.5cm wide, with shallow teeth at the margin and acuminate at the apex. Plant compact and vigorous, blooming mainly in summer and autumn, and less in winter and spring.

和平阳光Camellia ‘Heping Yangguang’. 中国茶花登录号：2019-292。《中国花卉园艺》2019年第20期60页。广东省阳江职业技术学院刘和平、林剑波等培育，刘和平登录。本品种系以杜鹃红山茶（C. azalea）为母本，红山茶品种‘红芙蓉’为父本，杂交而得。2015年收获杂交种子。花朵外轮红色，内轮粉红色，半重瓣至玫瑰重瓣型，中到巨型花，花径10.0～13.0cm，花瓣40枚以上，呈多轮有序排列。花瓣倒卵形，先端微凹，全开放后花心偶见少量雄蕊。叶片浓绿色，椭圆形或倒卵形，长7.5～9.5cm，宽3.0～4.5cm，边缘齿浅，先端渐尖。株形紧凑，生长旺盛，主要在夏、秋开花，冬、春少花。
