» English Description
Hongxia Yingchun (C. reticulata). China Regn. #2008-024. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2008, No.4, p.48. An open pollinated seedling of Zaotaohong (Early Crimson). Originated by the Kunming Institute of Botany, Yunnan, China, and named by Xia Lifang. Flowers loose peony form, deep red, (RHS.CC. 61C) 12-13 cm diameter. Petals ca. 24 in 4-5 whorls, outer two almost flat, inner petals incurved. Some stamens as petaloids, balance of stamens dispersed in bundles among the petals. Leaves long elliptic, bases cuneate, leaf surface inflexed, 9.5-14 cm long, 4-7 cm wide. Flowers mid-season.
