Hongzhuang Suguo

Hongzhuang Suguo. (C. japonica)  Zhou Li, 2011, Illustrated Handbook for Sichuan Camellias, p.94. Synonym: None  Originate: Chongqing  Characteristics: Plant growth less vigorous, open crown, branching most spreading horizontally, less branching and foliage sparse. Leaves green with occasionally yellowish spots, flat, glossy, measured 5.5 cm to 6.5 cm across by 2 cm to 3 cm wide, elliptic, with apex apiculate, base obtuse, serrate shallowly and sparsely. Sepals arc open. Flowers silver red, diameter 7 cm to 9 cm wide. Petals rounded. Outer large petals slightly reflexed, in 3-4 rows, 12 segments, heavy texture, fiat. Irregular petaloids by some stamens, imbricated irregularly, with white stripes, mixed with some normal stamens, peony-double form, medium floral abundance. Blooming March to April, at fully blooming in March.  Key points of identification: Leaves with occasional yellowish spots, flowers silver red, with white stripes in petals, some stamens normal and mixed most petaloids.

周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.94. 树势开张，长势较弱，枝多横生，枝叶稀疏；叶绿色，有少黄斑，叶片平展，有光泽，叶长5.5cm~6.5cm,宽2cm~3cm，叶椭圆形，先端渐尖，基部楔形，叶齿浅稀；花萼开张，花银红色，花径7cm~9an，花瓣圆形，外轮大花瓣略反卷，3轮〜4轮，12枚，质地厚实、平展，雄蕊部分瓣化，瓣化瓣大小不整齐，排列不规则，花瓣上有白色条斑，部分成熟雄蕊散生其间，牡丹型，花量中等，花期3月~4月，盛花期3月。 识别要点：叶片上有黄斑，花银红色，花瓣上有少量白斑，部分雄蕊发育成熟，散生于雄蕊瓣化瓣间。产地：重庆。

红妆素裹 Camellia japonica‘Hongzhuang Suguo’。张永和等1985《永福茶花》第17页。灌木，主干棕色;分枝多，长细软，叶疏。叶长7-8厘米，宽4-4.5厘米，长椭圆形；叶面深绿，平挺；叶先端渐尖，基部楔形；主脉明晰；叶质硬，叶缘锯齿疏钝；叶柄短（0.6厘米），色青。花径13厘米，清白色；花瓣大，扭曲自然；每片瓣从花的中心透出淡淡红晕，落落大方；具四簇黄雄蕊。花期一月至三月。
