Jinheirong

Jinheirong (C. japonica 'Ville de Nantes' × C. japonica 'Heimosa'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.503. HC-04-2., a cross seedling (NTHM-No.3) of C. japonica 'Ville de Nantes' × C. japonica 'Heimosa'. Flowers dark-red with terry feeling, semi-double form, large size, 10.0-11.5cm across and 6.0cm deep with 13-14 petals arranged in 3 rows, petals nearly round, stamens slightly united at the base, filaments red. Leaves deep green, leathery, elliptic, midrib visible, margins obtusely and sparsely serrate. Plant compact, branches dense and growth vigorous. Blooms from early-winter to the spring of following year. The cultivar name means “Golden Black Charpie”.
