Jixiang Ruyi

Jixiang Ruyi (C. azalea × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.149. HA-67-1., a cross seedling (DLHZ-No.1) of C. azalea × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'. Flowers deep red, occasionally with small white dots at the center, anemone form, medium size, 8.0-9.0cm across and 5.2cm deep, 8-10 exterior large petals arranged in 1-2 rows, broad obovate, central small petals and petaloids crowed into a ball. Leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, margins obtusely and thinly serrate. Plant upright, branches dense and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and occasionally in spring. The cultivar name means “Good Lucky as Desired”.
