Kongque Kaiping

Flowers red with white spots, semi-double， corolla dome-shaped, 9 — 10 cm in diameter; petals in 5 — 6 whorls. Leaves elliptic, about d.5 cm long, about 2.8 cm wide, margins waved, venation sunken. FI. Mar. to Apr. Used for potted plants or landscaping. origin from east China.

孔雀开屏 Camellia japonica ‘Kongque Kaiping’。汪亦萍、俞仲辂，中国建筑工业出版社，1989《山茶花》第42页。半文瓣型，灌木，展枝匀称，小枝细长。叶椭圆形，先端渐尖，基部阔楔形，长5.5厘米，宽2.8厘米左右，边缘常波折，锯齿细锐。表面亮绿色，有时有黄色斑块或斑点。侧脉5-6对,下凹明显，网脉下凹。花红色，大瓣5-6轮，排列整齐，边缘波曲，具不规则白色块点，中心为排列成环状的雄蕊，药黄色美丽。子房存，柱头4-5裂，与雄蕊等长。花径9-10厘米。花期：3月-4月。据传本种产于日本，上海、金华有栽培。
