Longhuo Hexi

Longhuo Hexi (C. azalea × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.154. HA-67-6., a cross seedling (DLHZ-No.7) of C. azalea × Non-reticulata hybrid 'Dragon Fireball'. Flowers red to dark red, single form, medium size, 8.0-8.5cm across with 6 petals, petals broad obovate, thick texture, stamens slightly united at the base, filaments red. Leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, margins shallowly and sparsely serrate. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Dragon-fire Congratulations”.
