Lou Akin (C. japonica) ACS, Reg. No.2273. American Camellia Yearbook, 1993, p69. with color photo in color inset 2. A large, pale pink, loose peony, C. japonica chance seedling, early to midseason. Originated by E. P. Akin, Shreveport, LA and propagated by Roscoe Dean, Lucedale, MS and Williams Nursery, Forrest Hill, LA.The 8 year old seedling first flowered 1987. Average bloom size, 11 cm across x 3.7 cm deep with 30 petals, 30 petaloids and yellow anthers. Plant growth is average and medium with dark green leaves 7.5 cm long x 5 cm wide.
