» English Description

Makino-hara-wase. (C. sinensis). Registered in 1953. Selected from original Japanese tea. Use for Japanese green tea. Shizuoka Pref.[Characteristics] Extremely early culticar with strong cold resistance suitable for warm area. Triploid (2n=45). [Breeder] Shozo Kosugi, Shizuoka Prefectural Tea Experiment Station (now Tea Research Center, Shizuoka Agricultural and Forestry Research Institute).  [History] In 1906, Kosugi Shozo's seedling tea garden in Yokooka, Kanaya-cho, Haibara-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture (currently Yokooka, Shimada City) Since then, the Shizuoka Prefectural Tea Industry Research Group (now Shizuoka Prefectural Agricultural and Forestry Research Institute Tea Industry Research Senyuichi) has selected a fast-growing tree and named it No. 1. After that, this was propagated, and the test of various characteristics was conducted at the Tea Industry Department of Shizuoka Agricultural Experiment Station from 1935 under the strain name of Makinohara Sayao, and the superiority was recognized. In 1953, it was registered as Tea Norin 7 and was named'Makino Harase'. [Earlyness] Very early life. The germination period is more than 10 days earlier than'Yabukita' and the plucking period is about 10 days earlier. [Morphological characteristics] Tree shape is intermediate. The tree strength and stock tension are medium. The collection of tea buds during the plucking period is rather good. The number of buds is small and the weight of one hundred buds is a little small. [Cutting rootability] Inferior to'Yabukita'. [Goodness of initial growth] Slightly slow [Method for tailoring young trees] According to'Yabukita'. [Yield] Yield is less than that of'Yabukita' and is moderate. [Quality] The quality of green tea is medium. The shape is not tight and the color is a little shallow. The inside quality is medium with both aroma and light blue, and the nourishment tends to be slightly pale . [Cold resistance] Cold resistance in winter is slightly strong, and laceration type frost damage is strong. [Insect resistance] It is strong in anthrax and ring spot disease. Slightly weak to the scale bug. [Suitable for cultivation] warm area. Because it is a very early cultivar, suitable areas are limited to areas that are not affected by frost damage. [Processing characteristics] Be careful of steaming because the mesophyll is thick. Shizuoka native seedlings.
