Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.256 with colour photo; English translation p.180. Medium size, pink with red shading on the outer petals, bowl-shaped single. Flowers early to mid-season. Leaves broadly elliptic, somewhat large, flat. Somewhat spreading growth, vigorous. A cultivar at a shrine in Kumamoto Prefecture. Named and released by Mikio Akashi in 1965. From Kurume.
