New Zealand Camellia Bulletin, 1970, vol II, No.7, p.32, Reg. No.50: A chance seedling of Buddha, its male parent is considered to be a C.japonica. Originated by B. Rayner, Stratford, New Zealand. First flowered 1969. Habit is open, upright and rapid with dark green leaves, 13 cm. x 4.5 cm. The flower is a very large semi-double, with 14 petals, very soft pink, 15-20 cm. across x 7-8 cm. deep.
