Eagle Heights Nursery Catalogue, 1965: A medium semi-double of clear pink. Flowering mid-season. Originated by E.G. Waterhouse, Gordon, N.SW, Australia. See p.187, Macoboy, 1981, The Colour Dictionary of Camellias.
Australian Registration No. 704 as Camellia hybrid ‘Sayonara’. Originator: originated & grown on by the late Prof. E. G. Waterhouse, ‘Eryldene’, Gordon, NSW, 2072, Australia. The first flowering is unknown, but it appears in the 1965 Camellia Grove catalogue. Origin of original plant is saluenensis x unknown japonica. Size, medium 70-90mm semi-double form, colour orchid pink to deeper edge sometimes mauve/pink in cold areas, growth is slow with upright habit, leaves medium matt green, and sun tolerant.
