Shiyue Yanhuo

Shiyue Yanhuo (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangri Guangchang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.347. HAR-14-21., a cross seedling (DGC-No.52) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangri Guangchang'. Flowers pink to deep pink, fading to light pink at the base, sometimes with white stripes, before withering, the flowers become light pink, semi-double form, large to very large size, 11.5- 13.2cm across and 4.0cm deep with over 40 exterior petals arranged tightly in 3-4 rows, petals obovate, apices slightly wavy, about 15 erected petals at the center, flowers fall whole. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, elliptic, cuneate at the base, margins smooth. Plant spread, dwarf, bushy and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-spring, fully blooms in summer, autumn and winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “October’s Fireworks”.

十月烟火 Camellia ‘Shiyue Yanhuo’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第347页。 HAR-14-21.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×杜鹃红山茶F1代新品种‘夏日广场’，杂交苗编号：DGC-No.52。花朵粉红色至深粉红色，渐向基部变为淡粉红色，有时有白条纹，花朵凋萎前，变为淡粉红色，半重瓣型，大型至巨型花，花径11.5-13.2cm,花朵厚4.0cm,外部大花瓣40枚以上，呈3-4轮紧实排列，花瓣倒卵形，先端略波浪状，中部花瓣约15枚，半直立，花朵整朵掉落。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，厚革质，椭圆形，长8.0-9.0cm，宽3.0-3.4cm,基部楔形，边缘光滑。植株开张，矮灌丛状，生长旺盛。春末始花，夏、秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。
