Xiacui Dongming

Xiacui Dongming (C. reticulata). China Regn. #2018-237. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2018, No.6, p.52. Named by Sun Yishu and Sun Yihua, it was bred and registered by Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This cultivar was selected from the naturally pollinated fruits of 'Zaotaohong'. Flowers are peach-red, rose-form to loose peony-form, 12-14cm in diameter, with 22-23 petals, 4-5 whorls inserted, corrugated petals, rose-type flowers, with most of the stamens still in the center of the flower, and loose peony-type stamens in bundles sandwiched between the inner petals. Leaves long elliptic, 8-11.5cm long, 4.7-5.7cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate to broadly cuneate. Flowering December to February.

霞翠东明Camellia reticulata ‘Xiacui Dongming’ 中国登录号：2018-237，《中国花卉园艺》2018年第6期52页。由孙翊澍、孙翊华命名，中国科学院昆明植物研究所培育并登录。该品种是从‘早桃红’自然授粉果实中选育。花桃红色，玫瑰型至松散牡丹型，花径12-14cm，花瓣22-23枚，4-5轮着生，花瓣波状，玫瑰型花，雄蕊多数集于花心，松散牡丹型雄蕊分束夹于内花瓣间。叶长椭圆形，长8-11.5cm，宽4.7-5.7cm，先端渐尖，基部楔形至宽楔形。花期12月至翌年2月。品种名为纪念孙东明先生而命名，他在1951年捐赠了大量云南山茶盆苗给中国科学院昆明植物研究所。
